Chesterfield & Spofford–I HEAR YOU!

Hi, I’m Michelle Hilger and in 2025 I was voted in as a Selectman in Chesterfield/Spofford, NH. My husband and I moved to Spofford in August 2019, and we’re proud to call this community home.

I grew up in Damascus, MD, a small town back then with only one stoplight. Over the years, I’ve lived in several different places across the country, from rural towns to urban cities, including MD, PA, CO, AZ, and now NH. I’ve traveled all 50 states before I turned 30, and each place has shaped who I am today. But Spofford, NH, is where we’ve chosen to settle, and it’s where I want to invest my energy to make a positive difference.

Since I was young, I’ve always had a passion for bringing people together to solve problems. That’s why I started Mongoose Power Solutions—to stand up for people who don’t always have a voice. I’m driven by a sense of fairness, and I believe in finding common ground for the good of everyone.

Chesterfield/Spofford is a place that holds a lot of value for me. I know how important it is to be part of a close-knit, rural community where neighbors truly support one another. It’s this small-town charm that I want to protect, while also helping our town grow in a way that ensures it stays vibrant for generations to come.

I believe we don’t need to change what’s great about our town to make it better. We already have a solid foundation, and I want to help strengthen it by supporting local businesses, fostering a strong sense of community, and ensuring this remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

But we can’t do this alone. We need more people involved, more fresh ideas, and more collaboration to keep improving. I’m excited to bring new voices into the conversation and work together to make Chesterfield/Spofford even better.

I’m committed to preserving what’s special about our town while setting us up for a bright future. Thank you for the opportunity to serve, and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you toward that goal.
